Series 01: Lanterns at the Crossroads
Hayate
the ridge-wind hermit
Hayate lives above the tree line where the wind never settles. He carves the steps of the pass by hand and replaces any that crack in winter.
He will teach a sword form to anyone who reaches him before sunrise, but only one form, and only once. Students who come back a second time find tea waiting instead.
Drawn from the tengu of Japanese folklore, which is in the public domain. Hayate's design, name and story are original to HOKORA. How we keep designs original
